It shows an examiner that you have planned your essay, know what you are going to say and in all probability will support it with good evidence. Once the essay is written, go back through the writing to find any sentences that seem too long or wordy. A thesaurus is another valuable tool when writing an essay. Josh might write a lovely reflection on how close he and his brother were, or how much he likes his little sisterâ€"but that doesn’t give the admissions committee much to work with. I had no idea I could benefit so much from using a writing service! Thanks for the help and outstanding performance of my writer. Many students have the instinct to explain themselves, including any failings or perceived failings, while writing their applications. It’s common to see a student choose an important experience in their past, narrate the whole thing beautifully, but then forget to tie it to the present. Before you even start writing, think about whether your potential topic is influencing the way you think about the present, and, crucially, the future. He writes beautifully about his grandfather teaching him about the waves, but he’s not a pro surfer, and might even be going to college in the middle of the country. Not as long as he tells us how surfing influences himâ€"as he did in extracting a wider lesson. It should present the topic of your paper and also make a comment about your position in relation to the topic. Your thesis statement should tell your reader what the paper is about and also help guide your writing and keep your argument focused. After you have hooked the reader, it is important to give context that will help your reader understand your argument. This might involve providing background information, giving an overview of important academic work or debates on the topic, and explaining difficult terms. Don’t provide too much detail in the introductionâ€"you can elaborate in the body of your essay. , and second, Josh is not really telling a story. So as you’re identifying the right anecdote for your essay, make sure you have a point of tensionâ€"a point where we, the reader, wonder if everything will turn out okay. For J, this might mean beginning with a time before he and his sister were closeâ€"say, when all the siblings were in the house and there wasn’t much time for the two to connect. Then Josh would tell us about what changed as soon as the brother left, and in there he might find an opening anecdote. Because your topic needs to display your ability to grow, to show change over a period of time. If Josh has always had a perfect relationship with his sister, wellâ€"first, no one will believe that! If you’re really struggling to outline and would rather just follow the pen to a first draft, that’s fine, but do yourself a favor and make outlining your second draft step. At some point, everyone needs an outline, but it’s your call when to do it. Let’s follow this through with Ramya’s essay on the Patriots. The model we’ll use for this essay is a five-paragraph, anecdote-driven essay. Your recommenders might have a chance to write something about it in their letters, if they were in a position to see you during or after the rough period. An example might be an essay that discussed a student’s home life, say their parents’ difficult divorce during their freshman year. Now, taking your chosen topic, it’s time to outline it. Outlining works great for some people as a pre-writing tactic, and we always recommend it. For others, it can be harder than simply getting down to writing.

How To Write An Excellent Essay For College

How To Write An Excellent Essay For College This essay will probably have three paragraphs in the main body. The thesis statement is the most important part of the introduction. To get there, we tell our students, they’ll need a meaningful, effective, multistep writing process. Some writers argued for the five-paragraph essay or other formulaic models, on the grounds that clear expectations at least give underprepared students something to work with. At this stage of essay writing, focus primarily on the content. Take your time and organize the information you have in a logical narration based on the outline. If you don't care about reducing alcohol advertising, don't pick this topic for a persuasive essay. It gives the reader clear information about the content of the essay, which will help them to understand the essay more easily. The thesis states the specific topic, and often lists themain ideas that will be discussed in the main body. It may also indicate how the essay will be organised, e.g. in chronological order, order of importance, advantages/disadvantages, cause/effect. It is usually at the end of the introduction, and is usually one sentence long. As you write and gather more evidence, your thesis statement may change â€" and that’s okay! Thesis statements are not set in stone; they are meant to change as the paper develops. It is important to have a topic that is specific enough that finding sources is relatively easy, but broad enough that you can write many pages about it. As an example, I wrote a 12-page paper on the effect of World War II on the rights of women in American society. Had I selected a more vague topic like “American Women in the 1930s and 1940s”, it would have been a far more difficult essay to write. Properly formulate the thesis, and you will push yourself to write a beautiful and structured piece. Practice timed essay writing with sample test questions before test day. With a little practice, you may not feel as pressured by the clock on test day. Create a list at the end of the paper where you acknowledge all the books and articles you referred to in your own written piece. If you don’t cite the sources, you might be accused of plagiarism. If you decide to write about something that matters to you, you will sound more convincing. And the reader will find the paper more interesting. Choose a topic that's appropriate to the paper’s length. Avoid broad topics as you cannot cover them fully due to the limited number of words. If you're writing a four‐page essay, don't retell the whole history of women's rights. Below is adiscussion essay which looks at the advantages and disadvantages of car ownership. This essay is used throughout theessay writing section to help you understand different aspects of essay writing. Here it focuses on thethesis statement andgeneral statements of the introduction ,topic sentences, controlling ideas, and thesummary andfinal comment of the conclusion. Click on the different areas to highlight the different structural aspects in this essay. This thesis gives us more detail, telling us not just the topic and the method of organisation , but also tells us the main ideas in the essay . Others advocated replacing the essay with more “real-world” forms that would force students to think in fresh ways. Next, you need to formulate a thesis statement based on the proposed topic. The thesis is the basic idea that you wish to prove in the essay. But what we’ve just described is a final essay -- that is, a product. And essays don’t emerge, fully formed, like Athena from Zeus’s head. No student can create such an essay in one draft.

Easy Guide To Writing A Killer 500 Word Essay

Easy Guide To Writing A Killer 500 Word Essay What exactly is the difference between an analytical essay and an evaluation essay? Well, the latter moves beyond simply explaining what the subject is or how it works and delves into how valuable it is. Critical has its roots from the Greek word 'kritikus' which means 'to discern'. This is the essay that challenges the concepts behind an issue. This tends to be more informal and will contain narrative aspects as well as some entertainment value. A personal essay should be structured in such a way that it provides an unbroken reviewing experience. It is the depth and quality of your research that will help you grasp the scope of the theme and the strengths and weaknesses of your argument. So don't hesitate to return to the instructor if you have to get all the facts straight. Remember, this is a skill that you will draw from in future, whether you take on writing as a career or pursue a different professional route. Therefore, practice the art of getting your objectives right from the beginning before embarking on the project. The title is the starting point of the process and this needs to be developed in such a way that you are able to systematically show the relationship between the whole and its parts. Your responsibility is to analyze the subject at hand systematically and then explain it by providing examples of the main points and giving proper analogies. So beyond just checking for spelling errors, you are looking for anything that could potentially put off the reader. One effective way of making sure you do not miss anything is reading the paper out loud and then correct accordingly as you move along. Research does not just involve digital or written sources, but also other sources like interviews, podcasts, lessons and speeches. Remember that primary sources are more authoritative than secondary sources. When you reach the conclusion, restate the thesis in a summarized form. This is the piece of writing that trains you further in developing your communication skills by increasing your reader's awareness with your knowledge and insight. Here, the evidence you use to back up the facts you present should be up-to-date and relevant. The more objective and unbiased the opinions presented, the more credible the essay. Supportive facts, examples, statistics, expert opinions and other elements are key to making the essay a success. In the writing process, you will need to use examples, draw parallels, and discuss associations. To effectively achieve this, it is necessary to employ the use of metaphors, similes, allegories, symbolisms, or other methods of comparison. In order to make it unique and captivating to the reader, it is also important to inject unexpected angles or unpredictable conclusions. Ensure that your thesis statement is not too long. Maintain logic and coherence and fluidity in the style you use for the reader to easily move from one point to another. For example, are you able to show how much damage is caused by using sleep medication and the statistics and tests that prove it? If so, you can start building your case from there. Therefore try as much as possible to remain meticulous in your review. Remember, you do not have to be verbose to make the essay clear and interesting. Exposition is a process that begins by identifying the foundational ideas and facts and then analyzing the relevant research material. The goal of this essay is to deepen the reader's understanding concerning the subject. It should be written in story form covering an incident or incidents that have occurred. These could be either situations which you have personally experienced or you have some personal knowledge about. What type of evidence is required in a persuasive essay? It needs to be specific, with solid sources quoted as opposed to generic statements.

What Is An Essay?

What Is An Essay? It is helpful to keep the reader informed as to the development of the argument. You can do this by using simple statements or questions that serve to introduce, summarise or link the different aspects of your subject. You can always come back to enter the references later. Whatever the reason, if you cannot write an assignment, you have to find a way out of your panic. If you find yourself in this position, do not allow the situation to drift; try to act swiftly. Discussing your worries with your tutor and/or peers, or simply writing them down, will help you clarify why you might feel stuck. A few students can get so anxious about an assignment that they find themselves unable to write anything at all. Paragraphs show when you have come to the end of one main point and the beginning of the next. A paragraph is a group of sentences related to aspects of the same point. Within each individual paragraph an idea is introduced and developed through the subsequent sentences within that paragraph. One important way of guiding the reader through your essay is by using paragraphs. You should avoid jargon, especially jargon that is not directly connected to your subject area. You can be personal by offering your own viewpoint on an issue, or by using that view to interpret other authors' work and conclusions. One is that a good essay should be written in a formal, impersonal way with a good scattering of long words and long, complicated sentences. A collection of Question lists is available via the Learning Development website. These lists suggest questions to ask of your writing when you are reviewing it. Essay writing is a daunting affair for most working students today. If necessary, the term ‘the author’ may also be used. You may, however, give supported judgements which use references, including examples of data to offer perceptive comment. Henry Ford did not, which is why he is given credibility as an expert on cars, not history. For a 1,000-word essay an introduction of approximately words would be appropriate. The workload is enormous and the study hours are on the increase to ensure the syllabus is fully covered. Often with report writing there are many tasks to be done. In group work it may be appropriate to allocate tasks between group members. Whatever the situation, try to think ahead and plan your strategy, bearing in mind the time limit that you have to work within. If you summarise another writer’s views, you must cite the source correctly. Some topics require you to research more, some to think and analyse more. Academic writing must be objective in its approach; that is, students are not simply asked for opinions , but to analyse, judge and propose, using evidence. For this reason, the use of the personal pronouns (I, we, you…) should be avoided. Another useful exercise is to ask someone else to read the essay through. Where appropriate use simple and logical language and write in full or complete sentences.

Platinum Essay

Platinum Essay But none of those things seem to tell the admissions committee what they wouldn’t already know from simply reading her list of extracurriculars. It is good to be afraid of clichéâ€"but one of the truisms about clichés is that they become trite because they reiterate feelings we’ve all had. That also means that buried beneath many clichés is some authentic, particular, and personal relationship you have to your topic. In order to have this kind of time freedom, you’ll have to start early. And if you spend your summer warming up and training for the main event, you can start rereading your body of freewriting by the end of July. Tell the story of the first time you did this thing. Tell the story of the most meaningful time you did this thingâ€"it might be, say, when you won a game, but it also might be when you lost a game, or when you quit the team. Did you grow up considering another place that is not where you currently live home? Tell the story of the first time you went there or the first time you remember going there. Was there a particular timeâ€"a summer, or a yearâ€"when that place became important? Describe the first time you saw their home, in story form. Tell the story of a time you saw somethingâ€"visuallyâ€"that provoked that anger or frustration. Tell the story of the first time you learned about these valuesâ€"say, a morning at Sunday School or a conversation with a grandparent. Ramya’s going to write about the sports bar where she watches her team play every Sunday during football season. Those are just a few more narrative possibilities for structuring your essay. At 650 words, each of these will be best understood as a five-paragraph essay, so a basic structure stays the same, but the way things begin and end will not. You’ll see us return to these students’ ideas as we work through outlines. So instead Anita decides to write about a wilderness solo she took in North Carolina on a school trip, and about how it influenced her relationship with poetry. What do your friends come to you seeking help with? Tell the story of a time when you think you did a great job of helping another person. Now, to make sure you stay humble, tell the story of when that person helped you. They say a piece of short fiction is about a moment after which nothing will be the same again. The obvious thingâ€"and the thing most teachers and advisors told Anita to doâ€"is write about mock trial. It would be a good opportunity to give the admissions committee some insight into her psychology behind the success. She took a couple of stabs at it during free-writing, though, and it didn’t flow. Ramya could try to write something about medicine. Or she could write about soccer, dance, or speech. What’s an important conversation you had with them? But, we’ve offered some adjusted timelines lower down in case you don’t have the whole summer to work with. Who’s a family member who lives with you and is important to you? Think of a specific time they helped you with something.

The Impact of Emotions in A Christmas Carol - Literature Essay Samples

â€Å"I wear the chain I forged in life†¦ I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will, I wear it.† Jacob Marley’s words allude to the harrowing impact that emotions such as remorse have on the human psyche, as he is forever bound to the Earth by the chain formed from his own avarice. Charles Dickens’ novella ‘A Christmas Carol’, silhouetted against the backdrop of Victorian England, a time period rife with greed and inequality amongst the differing social classes, not only explores the impact of remorse, but also a plethora of other emotions. As the intricacies of the plot unfold, the essential tensions of the text are unveiled through the emotional entanglement of grief and loneliness. In spite of its emotional intensity, however, ‘A Christmas Carol’ is, at its core, an allegory for how joy is the emotion which supersedes all others. The novella echoes the impact that grief has on catalysing the amelioration of human morality. Dickens utilises the interactions between Ebenezer Scrooge and Belle as the vehicle through which he expresses such a belief in tandem with exploring the ramifications of leading a miserly life. Indeed, the breakdown of Belle and Scrooge’s relationship cautions the reader that an all-consuming lust for money can warp an individual to the point that it creates psychological rifts between themselves and those to whom they should be closest. Scrooge’s grief from his realisation of having lost Belle to â€Å"another idol [which] has displaced [her]† is nonetheless one of the catalysts that allowed him to undergo a metamorphosis from a man with a â€Å"tight-fisted hand at the grindstone† to someone who is jovial and generous. The aftermath of the deterioration of Scrooge and Belle’s relationship shows how the impact of the resulting grief can result in signifi cant improvement in attempting to rectify wrongdoings. Furthermore, the Ghost of Christmas Present incites â€Å"penitence and grief† on the part of Scrooge, bringing forth the realisation of what an embittered, miserly man he has become. Such grief impacted Scrooge to the degree that he becomes intrinsically driven to make changes to his lifestyle. It is not only the influence of grief that is explored through the novella; Dickens goes beyond mere narrative to give valuable insights into the power of loneliness. As a man who is â€Å"solitary as an oyster†, the loneliness which permeates several facets of Scrooge’s life shows the impact that isolation has on the human spirit, as Scrooge devolves to become no more than a â€Å"covetous old sinner† as a result of his tendency to be deliberately emotionally distant to those who surround him. A personification of memory, the Ghost of Christmas Past presents Scrooge with visions of the early onset of his seclusion, as â€Å"a solitary child, neglected by his friends† preferring the company of books to the company of humans in his boyhood; such imagery underscores the impact of loneliness in the long-term. Scrooge, emphatically â€Å"quite alone in the world† well into adulthood, is eventually confronted by the notion of remaining unremembered and u nmourned upon his passing, thereby serving to instil fear within the reader of how loneliness instigated by isolation can have deleterious implications even beyond the grave. Loneliness is not the sole emotion poignantly painted through the narrative, as remorse, too, is suggested to have equal if not greater impact on the human spirit. The spectre of Jacob Marley, having â€Å"no rest [and] no peace†, is plagued by the repentance which beleaguers him to the degree that he is eternally trapped in the physical plane of existence. It is through Marley’s characterisation as being inundated by the â€Å"incessant torture of remorse† that Dickens explicates how grievance can take precedence over one’s wellbeing and the degree to which it can potentially escalate. Scrooge eventuates to be as regretful as Marley upon seeing the visions of the enigmatic Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. The Ghost not only instils fear with its silence, but also by its symbolism of a march of time towards an undeniably fixed end. As a 19th century audience fixated with the idea of death and the afterlife, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come would further p erturb the reader with its pessimistic predictions of the future. In presenting Scrooge with the vision of â€Å"a dark empty house, with not a man, a woman or a child† accompanying him as he passes away, Scrooge’s remorse consumes him and makes him realise that â€Å"men’s courses will foreshadow certain ends†, disturbing the reader through the implication that the decisions that they make in the present may also follow them to the grave. It cannot be said that exclusively negative emotions such as remorse are evocatively explored through ‘A Christmas Carol’, as what truly lies at the heart of the book is the overriding influence of joy. Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ is, indeed, an allegory for the impact emotions may have on human wellbeing. Through the emotional undercurrents that lie at the core of the novella, Dickens confronts the reader with the notion that upper class society may not be able to change their morally vacuous ways until they feel remorse for the ramifications of their actions, or lack thereof. In the words of Jacob Marley, â€Å"No space of regret can make amends for one life’s opportunity misused.†

What Is a Sonnet - Overview and Characteristics

A sonnet is a one-stanza, 14-line poem, written in  iambic pentameter. The sonnet, which derived from the Italian  word  sonetto, meaning â€Å"a little sound or song, is a popular classical form that has compelled poets for centuries, says  Poets.org. The most common—and simplest—type is known as the English or Shakespearean sonnet, but there are several other types. Sonnet Characteristics Before  William Shakespeare’s day, the word sonnet could be applied to any short lyric poem. In Renaissance Italy and then in Elizabethan England, the sonnet became a fixed poetic form, consisting of 14 lines, usually  iambic  pentameter in English. Different types of sonnets evolved in the different languages of the poets writing them, with variations in rhyme scheme and metrical pattern. But all sonnets have a two-part thematic structure, containing a problem and solution, question and answer, or proposition and reinterpretation within their 14 lines and a volta, or turn, between the two parts. Sonnets share these characteristics: Fourteen lines:  All sonnets have 14 lines, which can be broken down into four sections called quatrains.A strict rhyme scheme:  The rhyme scheme of a Shakespearean sonnet, for example, is ABAB / CDCD / EFEF / GG (note the four distinct sections in the rhyme scheme).Written in  iambic  pentameter: Sonnets are written in  iambic pentameter, a poetic meter with 10 beats per line made up of alternating unstressed and stressed syllables. A sonnet can be broken into four sections called quatrains. The first three quatrains contain four lines each and use an alternating rhyme scheme. The final quatrain consists of just two lines, which both rhyme. Each quatrain should progress the poem as follows: First quatrain:  This should establish the subject of the sonnet.Number  of lines: four; rhyme scheme: ABABSecond quatrain:  This should develop the sonnet’s theme.Number  of lines: four; rhyme scheme: CDCDThird quatrain:  This should round off the sonnet’s theme.Number  of lines: four; rhyme scheme: EFEFFourth quatrain:  This should act as a conclusion to the sonnet.Number  of lines: two; rhyme scheme: GG Sonnet Form The original form of the sonnet was the Italian or Petrarchan sonnet, in which 14 lines are arranged in an octet (eight lines) rhyming  ABBA ABBA and a sestet (six lines) rhyming either CDECDE or CDCDCD. The English or Shakespearean sonnet came later, and, as noted, is made of three quatrains rhyming ABAB CDCD EFEF and a closing rhymed heroic couplet, GG. The Spenserian  sonnet  is a variation developed by Edmund Spenser in which the quatrains are linked by their rhyme scheme: ABAB BCBC CDCD EE. Since its introduction into English in the 16th century, the 14-line sonnet form has remained relatively stable, proving itself a flexible container for all kinds of poetry, long enough that its images and symbols can carry detail rather than becoming cryptic or abstract, and short enough to require a distillation of poetic thought. For more extended poetic treatment of a single theme, some poets have written sonnet cycles, a series of sonnets on related  issues often addressed to a single person. Another form is the sonnet crown, a sonnet series linked by repeating the last line of one sonnet in the first line of the  next until the circle is closed by using the first line of the first sonnet as the last line of the last sonnet. The Shakespearean Sonnet The most well-known and important sonnets in the English language were written by Shakespeare. These sonnets cover such themes as love, jealousy, beauty, infidelity, the passage of time, and death. The first 126 sonnets are addressed to a young man while the last 28 are addressed to a woman. The sonnets are constructed with three quatrains (four-line stanzas) and one couplet (two lines) in the meter of iambic pentameter (like his plays). By the third  couplet,  the sonnets usually take a turn, and the poet comes to some kind of epiphany or teaches the reader a lesson of some sort. Of the 154 sonnets Shakespeare wrote, a few stand out. A Summers Day Sonnet 18 is probably the most well known of all of Shakespeares sonnets: Shall I compare thee to a summers day?Thou art more lovely and more temperate:Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,And summers lease hath all too short a date:Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,And often is his gold complexion dimmd; And every fair from fair sometime declines,By chance, or natures changing course, untrimmd; But thy eternal summer shall not fadeNor lose possession of that fair thou owst;Nor shall Death brag thou wanderst in his shade,When in eternal lines to time thou growst; So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,So long lives this, and this gives life to thee. This sonnet best exemplifies the three-quatrain-and-one-couplet model, as well as the iambic pentameter meter. While many people assumed Shakespeare was addressing a woman, he is, in fact,  addressing the Fair Youth. He compares the young man to the beauty of a summers day, and just as the day and seasons change, so to do humans, and while the Fair Youth will eventually age and die, his beauty will be remembered forever in this sonnet. Dark Lady Sonnet 151 is about the  Dark Lady, the object of the poets desire, and is more overtly sexual: Love is too young to know what conscience is;Yet who knows not, conscience is born of love? Then, gentle cheater, urge not my amiss,Lest guilty of my faults thy sweet  self prove. For thou betraying me, I do betrayMy nobler part to my gross bodys treason; My soul doth tell my body that he mayTriumph in love; flesh stays no farther reason,But rising at thy name, doth point out theeAs his triumphant prize. Proud of this pride,He is contented thy poor drudge to be,To stand in thy affairs, fall by thy side.No want of conscience hold it that I callHer love, for whose dear love I rise and fall. In this  sonnet,  Shakespeare first asks the Dark Lady to not admonish him for his sin, as she is also sinning with him and the Fair Youth. He then speaks to how he feels betrayed by his own body because he is merely following his base instincts, which have enslaved him to Dark Lady.

Essay on The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Alicia Rodgers HSA 505 – Health Services Planning and Marketing Dr. Gwendolyn Francavillo October 23, 2011 Abstract There have many attempts to reconstruct our nation’s health care system. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as Health Care Reform, is a federal law that was passed on March 23, 2010. This statute was passed in order to guarantee medical care and insurance coverage to all Americans; reduce costs of coverage; and increase quality of care (Stoleberg amp; Pear, 2010). Problems Facing Tourism and Hospitality Sector in Australia Report

Question: Discuss about theProblems Facing Tourism and Hospitality Sector in Australia Report. Answer: Introduction The chief problem explained in this report is some of the setbacks encountered in the Australian tourism and hospitality market, particularly about concerning quick evolution within the accommodation and air travel sector and the establishment of affordable airfare and an economical variety of hotels in the nation. There is need to mitigate the hiccups faced by this industry since it is one of the major contributors to the country`s economy. As such, I have employed several research sources and materials particularly books and journal articles to identify some of these aspects and the challenges emanating from them. Information Gathering Reasons for the Rapid Growth In the recent past, the aviation and accommodation sectors in the country have experienced tremendous growth and expansion. The aviation industry in Australia is projected to grow at a rate of 4-5% per year (Susan, 2017). The rapid growth of the two sectors is greatly attributed to the remarkable increase in both domestic and international tourism over the past several years. The international tourism to Australia has grown by a yearly average of 12.3% over the 1992-1997 period (Sharma, 2005). He adds that domestic travel in Australia has been growing at a rate of 3% per year. This means that a blend of the two has contributed immensely to the above-experienced growth. However, the growth in the country`s aviation sector has caused increased carbon emissions into the atmosphere due to jet fuel usage, and it may escalate into the near future (Susan, 2017). This is attributed to the high number of tourists using the low-cost carrier services in the nation all year round. This is an env ironmental problem. Although environmental legislation in Australia controls tourism development, it is less efficacious in operational areas due to the reliance on the tourism on environmental resources which are not managed by operators (Carter, 2004). The other evident reason is the low-cost airfare in the nation and the great distances across the country, which requires air transport for convenience. Australia is largely dependent on its air transport industry because of the immense distances across the nation and between urban centres (Panarat, 2014). He further says that due to the deregulation of domestic air travel market in Australia on the 30th October in the year 1990, low-cost carriers have come into the market and the LCC market has occurred in three phases. According to him, low-cost carriers had captivated about 64% of the market by the year 2010. He says that, however, the evolution of the Virgin Australia model of business from a low-cost carrier to a full-service network, starting in 2011, has caused a consequent decline in the low-cost carriers' market share to around 31% currently. He adds that Tiger Airways and Jet Star are the only major carriers currently operating in the market segment. This means that the LCC is facing the threat of being phased out by the full-service networks. The possibility of adverse effects of shifts in consumer demand is also of great concern. The potential for changing consumer demand patterns should concern for the Australian tourism industry (Lisa, 2013). Increased competition in the hotel accommodation industry is another key cause of its boom. Increasingly competitive settings have directed hotel managers` attention on reaping competitive advantage by optimizing the potential of their customer base (Lisa, 2013). She adds that according to findings of a survey of 165 Australian hotel managers, there is evidence that huge, highly market headed hotels with a decentralized structure employ more customer focused and marketing accounting practices. However, this stiff competition is causing the problem of hiked and ever fluctuating prices. Effect of Global Brands on the Local economy There are many worldwide hotel brands which impact either directly or indirectly on the Australian economy. Some of the brands have branches in the country too. The major effect is the creation of competition in the sector, which in turn causes improved services hence increased customer base. This then translates into high earnings thus economic growth. Globalization occurs, and consequently, national economies are integrated into one global economy with share features, and this implies that decisions made in one part of the globe impact other parts too (Andrew Martyn, 2004). They add that it has created opportunities for innovative entrepreneurs to enter the market and compete efficaciously. This has however led to the challenge of relaxed state regulation of the ethics and operations within this industry. Synergies for the Aviation and Accommodation Sectors There has been cooperation between the stakeholders in the two sectors. This is especially evidenced when airline companies, agencies, and tours enter into an agreement with hoteliers to transport their customers to their hotels and lodges. For some outdoor adventure lodges and game lodges, there is a linkage between them and the air transport operators, for instance, a gateway airport (Ralf, 2009). This serves the interests of the stakeholders in both these sectors since it is a win-win business deal. The teamwork is, however, facing the problem of selfish interests among some stakeholders in either or both of the sectors and this has a negative effect on the services provided. Overlap of the Two Sectors It is evident that the two sectors have something in common namely the pricing. Trends in one sector causing alterations in prices impacts the other sector`s prices too. Hotel accommodation is frequently clustered based on different pricing regimes involving airline discounting and supplemented with organized tours among other aspects (Norma, et al., 2004). As such, a fluctuation in the prices in the aviation sector impacts either directly or indirectly on the prices in the accommodation sectors. As a result, this poses the challenge of occasional loses for either of the two sectors New Building Program for Major Hotels In the recent, there has been the emergence of contemporary construction programs concerning key hotels in the country. This is especially in line with the growing industry and change in customer preferences. There is need to affirm the essence of local property markets in the building of hotels (Donald, 2011). The Asian-Pacific region is rising as possessing the greatest tourism growth rate in the world and is a critical part of the Australian hotel industry (Norma, et al., 2004). They go on to say that, with the rising popularity of Australia as a destination attracting overseas travelers and the establishment of the long-haul and considerably low-cost flights on 747 jumbos, there was a significant increase in inbound tourists accompanied by a vast building program involving the building of large, integrated hotels including four-to-five-star accommodation. This means that the modern building program for the large hotels is ideally the above-mentioned stars hotels. The main challen ge here is the expensive nature of executing such programs, which weighs heavily on investors. Emerging Markets for the Australian Tourism Industry The country`s tourism market has been growing and bringing in new customers particularly from outside the nation. This has brought along shifts in the way the sector is organized more so with the high number of international visitors being families coming along with their kids. By the fourth phase, international tourism will have its focus shifting from the beach to non-beach activities like theme parks and shopping at the upmarket (Caryl, et al., 2016). They add that Gold Coast implemented the model and is now the nations` tourist capital. The embrace of these new markets is quite slow and often causes friction in the sector. Brands from Budget to Luxury Not everybody can afford to stay at three-to five-star hotels, and some years back, Accor Group recognized the need for budget accommodation (Gary, et al., 2014). They add that the Group has 180 budget hotels in Australia and New Zealand under the brands of Pullman, MGallery, Sofitel, Grand Mercure, All Seasons, Formule 1, Novotel and Ibis. The hotel sector has recently been dominated by the emergence of budget accommodation market (Stephen, 2012). According to him, motels have come up especially in Australia and have emerged as a present feature of the accommodation sector. However, there have been new forms of accommodation like caravan parks and holiday parks (Stephen, 2012). Budget brand hotels offer a known consistent level standard services and amenities, all of which cannot be matched by independent hotels (Russel Judy, 2010). On the other hand, we have luxury hotels in the country. Peppers Palm Bay is one of the luxury resorts which conceits itself on seclusion, fine food and peace and is accessible only by helicopter (Simon, 2004). There are some other luxury hotels as follows; Cullen Bay in central Australia which charges $ 150 for dinner, Alatai Holiday Apartments, Mantra Esplanade and Feathers Sanctuary among other luxury hotels and resorts (Charles, et al., 2009). Attractions Australia has to offer International visitors Australia has a wide variety of tourism attractions it offers international tourists. This includes exquisite sandy beaches, wild animals, and music festivals like the popular annual Tamworth music festival, mountain hikes and multiple cultural heritages among many other alluring attractions. Conclusion The hospitality and tourism industry in Australia is thriving remarkably, but it faces some challenges which pull down its tremendous milestones this far. Recommendations The following are the recommendations I am suggesting to mitigate the above-noted setbacks in the Australian tourism and hospitality industry. There is need to ensure proper legislation to regulate the prices charged in the accommodation and aviation sectors to promote smooth running of the industry There should be reduced costs and incentives to investors willing and able to venture into the luxury hotel sector to encourage more investing into the expensive yet rewarding venture There should be more tourism promotions and marketing to the international community about the various tourist attractions Australia offers Proper legislation is needed to protect the local investors in these sectors from unfair competition from international ones while promoting quality, affordable and competitive products and services Reference Andrew, C.
